Explosion Proof Control System for a Blow Out Preventer (BOP) Crane On An Offshore Oil-rigging Platform
| |
Problem |
After successful drilling projects, a Blow Out Preventer (BOP) is installed over the borehole on the seabed, connecting to a supply pipeline that brings the oil up to the service platform.
Because this operation takes place in an explosive atmosphere, a hydraulic means of installing these BOPs is generally utilized. However, hydraulic cranes typically require a great deal of maintenance and can be expensive to use.
